The Delaware County community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Deputy Tony Skinner, a respected member of the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office who tragically lost his life in the line of duty early Wednesday morning, following a devastating crash on Interstate 69 near Yorktown, Indiana.

According to authorities, the tragic incident occurred in the early hours of November 12, 2025, at mile marker 247, between Indiana State Road 32 and Indiana State Road 26. Deputy Skinner had stopped to assist a stranded motorist—a routine act of service that defined his selfless character—when tragedy struck. While he was helping the disabled semi that was partially in the roadway, another northbound semi collided with his patrol vehicle. Despite the swift and heroic efforts of first responders, Deputy Skinner succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

The incident led to a full closure of northbound I-69 for several hours as emergency personnel worked tirelessly to manage the scene and render aid.
