In Loving Memory of Chloe Henry: A Life Tragically Cut Short in Peru, New York

PERU, N.Y. — The community of Peru and the greater Clinton County area are in mourning following the heartbreaking death of 25-year-old Chloe Henry, a young woman from Mooers whose life was tragically taken far too soon.

Chloe was reported missing on Sunday, October 19, 2025, shortly before 3 p.m., after loved ones grew concerned when they were unable to reach her. According to the New York State Police, she was last seen with her husband, Keith Henry, 33, of Plattsburgh, prior to her disappearance. What began as a missing person investigation soon turned into a devastating homicide case that has shaken the small North Country community to its core.

On Monday, police located Chloe’s body in a wooded area near Ridge Road in the town of Chazy. The Clinton County Coroner responded to the scene and pronounced her dead. Her remains were then transported to Glens Falls Hospital, where an autopsy was scheduled to determine the official cause of death. Preliminary findings and early investigative leads suggested that Chloe had suffered a fatal gunshot wound.

After a swift and coordinated investigation, authorities determined there was substantial reason to believe that Keith Henry had shot and killed Chloe while the two were inside his vehicle near Bear Swamp Road in Peru. Police quickly located Keith and took him into custody for questioning, as investigators from multiple agencies worked together to piece together the timeline of events that led to this horrific outcome.

The New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation, with the assistance of the Forensic Identification Unit, the Clinton County District Attorney’s Office, the Plattsburgh Police Department, the Clinton County Sheriff’s Department, and Homeland Security Investigations, have all joined forces to ensure justice is served.

For those who knew Chloe, the news has been almost unbearable. Friends and family describe her as a bright, kind-hearted young woman who loved deeply and always put others before herself. She was said to be full of laughter, creativity, and compassion — qualities that touched everyone who crossed her path. Her absence has left an unimaginable void in the hearts of her loved ones and in the small towns that once knew her smile.

“Chloe was the light of our lives,” one family friend shared on social media. “She didn’t deserve this. She deserved to grow old, to laugh, to love, and to live.”

The tragedy has also renewed attention on the issue of domestic violence and the need for awareness, prevention, and support for victims. Local advocates have urged anyone experiencing relationship abuse or control to seek help before it’s too late, reminding the community that there are resources available for those in dangerous situations.

As investigators continue their work and the family prepares to lay Chloe to rest, the community of Mooers and Peru stands together in grief and solidarity. Candlelight vigils are being planned in her memory, giving friends, neighbors, and loved ones a space to honor her life, share memories, and seek comfort in one another.

Chloe Henry’s story is one of love, loss, and the painful reminder of how fragile life can be. Though her life was taken in a moment of senseless violence, her memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved her. May she rest in eternal peace — remembered always for her warmth, kindness, and the joy she brought to the world around her.
