In Loving Memory of Brianna “Bri” Valentine (1996–2025)

The Akron, Ohio community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Brianna “Bri” Valentine, a 28-year-old woman whose radiant spirit and compassionate heart touched the lives of many. Bri passed away in early May 2025, following a courageous battle with mental illness. Her passing has left a profound void in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who knew her.

Bri was known for her infectious smile, empathetic nature, and unwavering commitment to helping others. A graduate of Firestone High School, she pursued a career in social work, driven by a deep desire to support individuals facing mental health challenges. Her advocacy extended beyond her profession; Bri was passionate about destigmatizing mental health issues and often used creative outlets like poetry and music to express herself and connect with others.

Despite her own struggles, Bri remained a pillar of strength and support for those around her. Her openness about her journey inspired many to seek help and speak openly about their own mental health. Tragically, Bri’s internal battles became overwhelming, leading to her untimely passing. Her death serves as a poignant reminder of the importance of mental health awareness and the need for accessible support systems.

In the wake of this tragedy, Bri’s family has initiated a GoFundMe campaign to assist with funeral expenses and to honor her legacy by supporting mental health initiatives. The campaign includes a heartfelt message from Bri herself, written prior to her passing, urging others to reach out to their loved ones and emphasizing the significance of compassion and understanding.

A candlelight vigil is being planned to celebrate Bri’s life and to foster open conversations about mental health within the community. Her family encourages donations to organizations like the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) in her memory, aiming to continue Bri’s mission of advocacy and support for those affected by mental health issues.

Bri is survived by her parents, siblings, extended family, and a wide circle of friends who will forever cherish her memory. Her legacy of kindness, resilience, and advocacy will continue to inspire and bring hope to many.
