In Loving Memory of Ann Elizabeth Grigsby Thomas)

The Franklin, Tennessee community mourns the passing of Ann Elizabeth Grigsby Thomas, who departed this life, at the age of 84. Born on February 16, 1938, in Marion, Ohio, Ann was the cherished only child of Everett Benjamin Grigsby and Mildred Crow Grigsby.

Ann’s early years in Marion were marked by academic excellence and a deep-rooted faith. She graduated from Harding High School in 1956 and went on to earn her degree from Denison University in 1960, where she was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa and was an active member of the Chi Omega sorority.

On August 27, 1960, Ann married her childhood sweetheart, John Marvin Thomas, after their first date on a church hayride during junior high. Their 61-year union was a testament to enduring love and partnership. Ann initially pursued a career as a Physical Education instructor, but she found her true calling in nurturing her family.

She is survived by her devoted husband, John; their three daughters and sons-in-law: Deborah Ann Grimm (Casey) of New Orleans, Louisiana; Amy Elizabeth Thomas Mitchell (Paul) of Franklin, Tennessee; and Sarah Thomas Clemmons (Charles) of Greenville, South Carolina. Ann was a proud grandmother to six grandchildren: Kaylor Ann Grimm, Isaac Benjamin Mitchell, Elizabeth Lynn Mitchell, Audrey Ruth Mitchell, Noah Harmon Clemmons, and Andrew John Clemmons.

Ann’s life was characterized by her unwavering faith, commitment to family, and service to others. Her legacy continues to inspire all who knew her.
