In Loving Memory — Janet Greer, Age 66, of Fairmont
With deep sadness, our community reflects on the life and passing of Janet Greer, a 66-year-old Fairmont woman whose life was unexpectedly taken in a two-vehicle crash east of Enid on Monday afternoon.
According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the collision occurred around 3:20 p.m. on North 114th Street as Janet attempted to cross U.S. 412. Troopers reported that she paused at the intersection, allowing one vehicle to pass, but did not see a second oncoming vehicle before entering the roadway. That vehicle struck Janet’s car, resulting in injuries that claimed her life at the scene. The other driver was transported for treatment and is expected to recover.
Janet’s passing leaves behind a quiet ache for those who knew and loved her. Beyond the few details that make their way into official reports, she was a neighbor, a friend, a woman with a history, memories, routines, and relationships that now feel interrupted too soon. For her family, her absence is not a headline but a chair left empty, a voice not heard, and a presence missed in the ordinary hours of every day.
Those who knew Janet speak of a woman rooted in community and shaped by years of faith, work, and family. Whether she was showing up when someone needed a hand, offering a kind word on a hard day, or simply carrying on through the quiet simplicity of her routines, she touched lives in ways that won’t soon be forgotten. Her life reminds us how deeply the everyday presence of one person can matter.
We honor her not only in mourning how she died but in remembering how she lived — with steadiness, with love, and with a spirit that will continue to echo in the people and places she leaves behind.
As her loved ones face the days ahead, may they find strength in shared memory, tenderness in the support of friends and community, and peace in knowing she is now at rest.
Rest in peace, Janet Greer.
Gone too soon. Forever remembered.
