Hopewell Woman Killed in Domestic Incident; Suspect Arrested

HOPEWELL, Va. — Authorities are investigating the death of a local woman following a domestic disturbance on Wednesday evening, September 10, 2025.

According to the Hopewell Police Department, at approximately 8:08 p.m., Hopewell Telecommunications received a report of an active domestic incident in the 300 block of South Mesa Drive. Responding officers arrived at the scene and found an adult female who had sustained severe injuries.

The victim was identified as 46-year-old Medea Masterson, a resident of Hopewell. Tragically, she was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Arrest and Charges

Police say the suspect, 42-year-old Larry Masterson, also of Hopewell, was taken into custody shortly after the incident. He has been charged with Second-Degree Murder and transported to Riverside Regional Jail, where he is being held without bond.

The Hopewell Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Unit has taken over the investigation to determine the circumstances that led to the fatal incident.
