Fatal Overnight Motorcycle Wreck Shuts Down Route 422 Ramp in Chester County

NORTH COVENTRY TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A Pottstown man was killed early Sunday morning in a single-vehicle motorcycle crash along Route 422, according to local authorities.

The North Coventry Township Police Department reported that the accident occurred on September 21, 2025, at approximately 1:30 a.m. in the area of Route 422 westbound near mile marker 171.4.

The preliminary investigation determined that the motorcyclist, 34-year-old Dylan McConnon of Pottstown, had been traveling on the Route 100 south ramp to Route 422 west while operating a 2019 Harley-Davidson motorcycle.

According to police, McConnon failed to negotiate a right-hand curve at the end of the ramp. The motorcycle skidded, fell onto its right side, and continued to slide across both lanes of Route 422 west before striking the center guide rail.

Emergency responders, including Norco Fire Rescue and Goodwill Ambulance personnel, arrived quickly at the scene. Despite their efforts, McConnon sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the site of the crash.

The wreck forced temporary closures in the affected lanes while crews worked to clear the roadway and investigators documented the scene. Police said the motorcycle was heavily damaged from the impact.

The North Coventry Township Police Department continues to investigate the crash, though at this time, officials have not indicated whether speed, roadway conditions, or other factors may have contributed.

News of McConnon’s death has shaken the Pottstown community, where friends and loved ones are mourning the loss of a man described as passionate and adventurous, with a love for motorcycles. Many took to social media Sunday to share condolences and memories.

Authorities are urging all motorists to exercise caution, especially during overnight and early morning hours when visibility is lower and conditions can make navigation more challenging.

Anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has additional information is encouraged to contact the North Coventry Township Police Department to assist with the ongoing investigation.
