Fatal Hit-and-Run Under Investigation in St. Louis County: Victim Identified as 38-Year-Old Ciera Steele
ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. — A heartbreaking incident is under investigation after St. Louis County police confirmed that 38-year-old Ciera Steele has died following a motor vehicle crash in the early morning hours of Saturday, September 27, 2025.
At approximately 2:37 a.m., officers from the North County Precinct were dispatched to the area near West Florissant Avenue and Northport Hills Drive after receiving a call for service regarding a reported vehicle crash.
When officers arrived, they found a female in the roadway with injuries that appeared consistent with being struck by a vehicle. Emergency medical personnel immediately transported her to a nearby hospital for treatment. Despite the efforts of doctors and hospital staff, Steele succumbed to her injuries the following day, Sunday, September 28, 2025, and was later pronounced deceased.
No Witnesses and No Vehicle at the Scene
Authorities have reported that there were no witnesses present at the time of the crash, and any vehicle involved did not remain at the scene. As a result, investigators are now working diligently to piece together the circumstances of the incident, including reviewing possible surveillance footage from nearby businesses or residences along the roadway.
The St. Louis County Police Department’s Bureau of Crimes Against Persons is leading the investigation.
