Driver and Passenger Killed in Multi-Vehicle Crash on LA 3152 in Jefferson Parish
Metairie, LA – Tragedy struck Jefferson Parish late Monday morning, June 9, 2025, when a multi-vehicle crash claimed the lives of two elderly residents from New Orleans. Louisiana State Police Troop B responded to the fatal accident shortly after 11:00 a.m. on LA 3152 near King Street, where they began a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the devastating collision.
According to preliminary findings, the crash involved a 2013 Infiniti G37 driven by 80-year-old Oscar Carter IV and occupied by 77-year-old front-seat passenger Martha Bradford. The Infiniti was traveling northbound in the center lane of LA 3152, while a Nissan Altima was moving in the same direction in the adjacent left lane.
For reasons still under active investigation, Carter’s Infiniti veered into the left lane and sideswiped the Nissan, striking it on the right side. The force of the initial impact caused Carter’s vehicle to leave the roadway, cross the median, and collide head-on with a tree. The Nissan, meanwhile, lost control and crossed into the southbound lanes of traffic, where it collided with a 2020 Buick Encore traveling in the opposite direction.
Emergency responders arrived quickly on scene, but despite their efforts, Carter succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the crash. Bradford, who sustained critical injuries, was transported to a nearby hospital where she later passed away. Authorities confirmed that neither Carter nor Bradford were properly restrained at the time of the incident—an omission that may have contributed to the severity of their injuries.
All other individuals involved in the crash—including the occupants of the Nissan and Buick, as well as a rear-seat passenger in Carter’s Infiniti—were properly restrained and sustained only minor injuries. They were treated at a local hospital and are expected to recover.
Although impairment is not currently suspected as a factor in the crash, standard toxicology samples were collected from all drivers and submitted for laboratory analysis. Louisiana State Police emphasize that this incident remains under active investigation, and further details may be released as they become available.

Louisiana State Police issued a statement underscoring that while not all crashes are survivable, seatbelts significantly reduce the risk of fatal and serious injury in collisions.
