Deadly Dispute: Bus Driver Fatally Shoots Two Men in Early Morning Confrontation

MIAMI GARDENS, FL – In the still hours before dawn, what began as a heated argument turned into a deadly shooting that claimed the lives of two men. Lonnie Stephenwade Harley, 44, and Ejaash Bail Carter, 46, were gunned down near Northwest 7th Avenue and 183rd Street after an altercation with a bus driver took a violent turn.

The incident occurred shortly before 3 a.m., a time when the city is usually quiet, with only the hum of late-night traffic filling the air. Witnesses say tensions escalated rapidly between the driver and the two men. Words were exchanged, anger flared, and then, in a flash, gunfire erupted. The bus driver, whose name has not yet been released, drew a weapon and fired, striking both Harley and Carter before they could react.

Emergency responders rushed to the scene, and medics quickly transported the wounded men to Aventura Hospital, but their injuries proved too severe. Both were pronounced dead upon arrival.

Their families are now left devastated, struggling to comprehend how a petty argument could turn into a fatal encounter. “This didn’t have to happen,” one grieving relative said. “Two lives were stolen over nothing.”

Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting, including whether the driver acted in self-defense or if charges will be filed. The community is left shaken, questioning how a routine interaction could so quickly spiral into violence.

As the families prepare to lay their loved ones to rest, they demand justice and answers. In a city where tempers can rise and moments can turn deadly in an instant, this tragedy serves as a painful reminder of the fragility of life.
