Dallas Man Stabbed Over 50 Times During Move; Suspect Arrested After Police Chase
DALLAS, TX – A shocking and brutal crime has left the North Oak Cliff neighborhood in mourning after a 28-year-old man was stabbed to death while moving out of his apartment. Authorities say Mason Raymond Davis suffered a gruesome 55 stab wounds at the hands of a man who was supposed to be helping him.
The suspect, 23-year-old Ethan Isaiah Rodriguez, is now in custody and facing capital murder charges. Police say he not only murdered Davis but also stole his vehicle and attempted to flee from authorities, leading to a high-speed chase that ended in a dramatic arrest.
A Moving Day Turned Deadly
The horrific attack took place on March 22, 2025, at Davis’s apartment in the 800 block of West 7th Street. Surveillance footage revealed that Rodriguez was assisting Davis with moving his belongings to a vehicle earlier that day.
However, just after midnight on March 23, security cameras captured Rodriguez leaving the apartment alone—driving off in Davis’s car. No other individuals were seen entering or exiting the residence after Rodriguez departed, according to the arrest affidavit.
A Grim Discovery
Concern grew when Davis failed to show up for work and was unreachable by phone. Worried loved ones contacted the Dallas Police Department, which conducted a welfare check on his apartment.
Officers forced entry into the unit, only to discover a blood-soaked crime scene. Davis was found lifeless, with 55 stab wounds covering his body. A bloody shoe print was documented at the scene—evidence that would later play a crucial role in linking Rodriguez to the murder.
The Chase and Arrest
Davis’s vehicle was reported stolen, and investigators launched a citywide search. On March 24, police located the car and attempted a traffic stop—but Rodriguez refused to comply.
A high-speed chase ensued, with Rodriguez crashing into multiple cars before attempting to flee on foot. Officers deployed a Taser to subdue him, finally taking him into custody.
