DA Announces Arrest of Jordan Antrim for Murder and Robbery in Lower Providence Township: Victim Identified as Paul David Ley-Harris
LOWER PROVIDENCE TWP., PA — Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin R. Steele and Lower Providence Township Police Chief Michael Jackson announced the arrest of 32-year-old Jordan Antrim of Philadelphia for the murder and robbery of 47-year-old Paul David Ley-Harris, a resident of Lower Providence, in a shocking act of gun violence that occurred on Saturday, May 17, 2025.
This brutal crime, which unfolded in broad daylight, has left the Lower Providence community shaken and mourning the senseless loss of a local man.
The Shooting and Immediate Response
At approximately 4:50 p.m., police were dispatched to the area of Ridge Pike and Crosskeys Road after receiving a 911 call reporting a shooting. The eyewitness who called in stated he had seen a man—later identified as Paul David Ley-Harris—shot four times, and then watched as the assailant rifled through the victim’s pockets while he lay bleeding on the ground.
A responding officer arrived within minutes and immediately began life-saving CPR on Ley-Harris. He was transported to Einstein Hospital, where doctors were unable to revive him. He was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
The Investigation and Arrest
The shooter had fled the scene on foot but was quickly located just a few blocks away by Lower Providence Police. Officers identified and apprehended Jordan Antrim without incident. At the time of his arrest, a Glock handgun was found in the waistband of Antrim’s pants. While the firearm was legally registered to him, Antrim did not have a valid permit to carry it.
Detectives from the Lower Providence Township Police Department and Montgomery County’s Detective Bureau launched a joint homicide investigation, which quickly uncovered critical evidence.
Surveillance footage from a SEPTA bus that both Antrim and Ley-Harris had ridden prior to the shooting showed the two men seated directly across from each other. In the footage, Ley-Harris can be seen removing and inspecting his wallet, apparently unaware that he was being watched. Moments later, both men exited the bus at a stop near where the fatal shooting occurred.
After the shooting, police noted that Ley-Harris’s wallet was missing from his person, further supporting the theory that robbery was the motive behind the killing.
Autopsy Results and Cause of Death
An autopsy performed on May 18, 2025, by Dr. Ian Hood, a forensic pathologist with the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office, confirmed the cause of death to be multiple gunshot wounds. The manner of death was officially ruled homicide.
Charges and Legal Proceedings
As a result of the investigation, Antrim was charged with the following offenses:
- First-Degree Murder
- Second-Degree Murder
- Third-Degree Murder
- Robbery
- Carrying a Firearm Without a License
- Possessing an Instrument of Crime
Antrim was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Henry J. Schireson, and due to the severity of the charges, bail was denied, as is standard in cases involving First-Degree Murder. He has been remanded to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for May 29, 2025, before Judge Schireson.
A Community in Shock
The sudden loss of Paul David Ley-Harris has devastated family, friends, and neighbors in the Lower Providence community. Ley-Harris is being remembered as a kind and warm-hearted individual whose life ended in an act of calculated and violent criminality.
Montgomery County authorities have praised the swift and coordinated response of law enforcement, from the 911 call to the immediate arrest of the suspect. District Attorney Steele emphasized the importance of continued public vigilance and reiterated that acts of violence and lawlessness will be met with the full force of justice.
“This was a deliberate, cold-blooded act of violence fueled by greed,” Steele said. “Thanks to the quick response by police and the strength of our investigative efforts, we have the suspect in custody and are prepared to pursue justice for Paul and his loved ones.”
Legal Note
As with all criminal proceedings, the charges filed are allegations only, and Jordan Antrim is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
