The Incident

At approximately 6:30 p.m., Deputies Brandon Sikes, Gavin White, and Andrew Brown initiated a traffic stop on a motor home driven by James Blake Montgomery, 45, to serve him with a temporary protective order related to a domestic violence case. Initially, Montgomery appeared cooperative. However, as the deputies turned away, Montgomery produced a fully automatic 9mm AR pistol and opened fire on the officers.
