Chicago Police Investigating Deadly Double Shooting That Left 25-Year-Old Woman Dead
CHICAGO, Ill. — A tragic night of gun violence claimed the life of a young woman and left another injured after a double shooting on Chicago’s South Side late Friday night. Authorities have identified the woman killed as 25-year-old Amanda, whose death has left loved ones and the community shaken.
The Shooting
According to the Chicago Police Department, officers were dispatched around 11:56 p.m. on Friday, August 29, 2025, after receiving multiple 911 calls reporting shots fired near 77th Street and Essex Avenue.
When officers arrived, they found the front door of a residence open and made entry. Inside, they discovered two female victims suffering from gunshot wounds.
Amanda was found with two gunshot wounds to the abdomen and one to the leg. She was immediately rushed to the University of Chicago Medical Center, but despite emergency treatment, she was later pronounced deceased.
A second victim, a 23-year-old woman, sustained two gunshot wounds to her leg and one to her knee. She was transported to the hospital, where she remains in fair condition, according to police.
