CHICAGO – Authorities have identified the victim of a deadly shooting in Chicago’s South Austin neighborhood as 35-year-old Nathaniel Jefferson, who was tragically gunned down Monday afternoon in a brazen act of violence that left the community shaken.
According to the Chicago Police Department (CPD), the incident occurred at approximately 3:09 p.m. in the 5500 block of West Lake Street. Investigators stated that Jefferson was seated inside a parked vehicle when another car approached and pulled alongside. Moments later, a suspect inside that vehicle unleashed a barrage of gunfire, striking Jefferson a staggering 28 times before fleeing the scene.
First responders arrived quickly after multiple 911 calls were made, but despite the efforts of paramedics and emergency crews, Jefferson was pronounced dead at the scene. His vehicle, riddled with bullet holes, stood as a haunting testament to the sheer brutality of the attack.
