On Thursday, April 10, 2025, a field trip for sixth-grade students from Chapel Hill Independent School District (ISD) in Mount Pleasant, Texas, took a tragic turn when a vehicle crashed into the local CiCi’s Pizza restaurant, injuring several students.

The incident occurred around 12:10 PM at the CiCi’s Pizza located at 666 S Jefferson Avenue in Mount Pleasant. At the time, approximately 30 to 50 sixth-grade students from Chapel Hill ISD were dining at the restaurant as part of a field trip. Mount Pleasant Police Chief Mark Buhman reported that the driver of an SUV may have backed into a pickup truck and then inadvertently drove into the restaurant. Emergency responders arrived promptly, transporting ten students to nearby medical facilities. One student was reported to be in critical condition, while the others sustained injuries that were not life-threatening.
