The community of Cahokia Heights is reeling after a tragic and senseless act of violence claimed the life of 19-year-old Quan Vaughn in the early morning hours of Sunday, June 16, 2025. According to St. Clair County Coroner Calvin Dye Sr., the incident took place shortly after 5:00 a.m. in the 300 block of Greystone Drive, a typically peaceful street in Cahokia Heights. Emergency responders arrived on the scene and found Vaughn suffering from what authorities described as a critical gunshot wound. He was rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment but was sadly pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
Vaughn, a native of Cahokia Heights, was known in his community as a young man with a bright personality, a big heart, and a hopeful future ahead of him. Friends describe him as kind, funny, and loyal—someone who could light up a room with his presence and who always looked out for the people he cared about.
