Buffalo Police Investigating Shooting on Rhode Island Street; One Man Injured

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Authorities are investigating after a man was shot Saturday evening on the city’s West Side. The incident took place in the 170 block of Rhode Island Street, drawing a heavy police response to the neighborhood.

According to initial reports, Buffalo Police officers were dispatched to the area after receiving 911 calls about gunfire. Upon arrival, officers located a male victim suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Emergency medical personnel were quickly called to the scene, and the victim was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. His current condition has not yet been released.

Detectives with the department’s Major Crimes and Homicide Units were also notified and are assisting with the ongoing investigation. Crime scene tape cordoned off sections of Rhode Island Street as officers worked to gather evidence and canvass the area for potential witnesses.

At this time, no suspect information has been made available, and it remains unclear what circumstances led up to the shooting. Police have not indicated whether the incident appears to be targeted or random.
