Armed Suspect at Large in Kingman and Golden Valley; Law Enforcement Warns Public to Stay Clear of Affected Areas

KINGMAN, Ariz. — April 30, 2025 — A tense and rapidly unfolding situation is developing in Kingman and Golden Valley, Arizona, as law enforcement officers continue an extensive manhunt for a suspect believed to be armed and dangerous. The Kingman Police Department (KPD) and Mohave County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) are actively searching for a man matching the same description in connection to separate shooting incidents reported on Wednesday afternoon.

Shots Fired Near Grace Lutheran Church in Kingman

The first incident occurred around 12:00 p.m. near Grace Lutheran Church on the 2100 block of Harrison Street in Kingman. According to KPD call logs and eyewitness accounts, shots were fired from a moving vehicle in broad daylight, sparking panic among nearby residents. Law enforcement responded swiftly, cordoning off several streets and initiating a search for the suspect in the surrounding area.

Eyewitness Daniel Townsend, who lives in the area, described a disturbing scene that unfolded in front of his home.

“I saw a teenager run across the street away from the church, and I thought it was strange,” Townsend said. “Then I saw a woman and her little dog run across Harrison and disappear on Gates Avenue. Moments later, a car came speeding down the center lane of Harrison. He stuck his hand out the window and fired three or four times—right in the direction of kindergartners.”

Video circulating on social media appears to show law enforcement officers closing in on a residence along Club Avenue, with several heavily armed officers seen with rifles drawn. As of 1:30 p.m., five KPD patrol vehicles were observed blocking intersections at Valentine Avenue, Short Street, and Harrison Street. A large section of the Grace Lutheran Church property was also taped off as part of the active crime scene.

Suspect Description and Second Shooting in Golden Valley

The suspect in both Kingman and Golden Valley incidents is described as:

  • 6 feet tall

  • Mostly bald

  • Blue eyes

  • Reddish goatee

  • Wearing a gray shirt, blue jeans, and black-and-white tennis shoes

A second shooting was reported shortly after 1:00 p.m. in Golden Valley, near Bosque and Chino Roads. Authorities have confirmed that the description of the shooter matches the one given in the Kingman incident, but it remains unclear whether the same individual is responsible for both events.

The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office is spearheading the investigation in Golden Valley, while KPD continues its active search in Kingman.

Schools Locked Down and Bus Routes Suspended

In response to the situation, the Kingman Unified School District (KUSD) announced that Black Mountain School was placed under a hard lockdown at 2:45 p.m. as a precaution. While the investigation is not taking place at the school itself, district officials are working closely with law enforcement to ensure student safety.

Additionally, KUSD will not be transporting students via school buses to Golden Valley until further notice. Parents have been urged to make alternate pickup arrangements for their children directly from school facilities.

Public Urged to Stay Clear and Remain Vigilant

Authorities are strongly urging residents to avoid the 2100 block of Harrison Street, as well as the Golden Valley areas near Bosque and Chino, while officers continue to conduct active searches.

Both KPD and MCSO have refrained from releasing further details at this time, including whether any arrests have been made or if additional threats exist. They have not confirmed whether the same suspect is definitively linked to both shootings.

As the investigation continues, law enforcement is calling on the public to remain vigilant. Anyone who sees a person matching the suspect’s description or notices suspicious activity is urged to call 911 immediately and not attempt to confront the individual.

This is a developing story, and updates will be provided as more verified information becomes available.
