Alvin, Texas – Police Seek Suspect in Fatal Hit-and-Run That Claimed Life of 53-Year-Old Pedestrian
ALVIN, TX — The Alvin Police Department is appealing to the public for information following a tragic fatal auto-pedestrian collision that claimed the life of 53-year-old Timothy Zavala in the early morning hours of Saturday, August 9, 2025.
Authorities report that the incident occurred at approximately 3:40 a.m. in the 3300 block of South State Highway 35, just south of Briscoe Park. Officers were dispatched after receiving reports of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle. Upon arrival, they found Zavala critically injured. Despite immediate life-saving efforts by first responders, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Preliminary findings from the investigation indicate that Zavala had been walking southbound along SH 35 when he was struck by a northbound vehicle. The driver of the vehicle fled without stopping to render aid. Investigators believe the suspect vehicle is a late-model white Ford Bronco that will likely have noticeable front-end damage from the collision.
The loss of Zavala has left the Alvin community in mourning. Known to many as a friendly and approachable figure, Zavala had deep ties to the area and was recognized by neighbors for his kind-hearted nature. Friends describe him as someone who always greeted people with a smile, often stopping to chat and lend a hand when needed.
The Alvin Police Department is treating the incident as a fatal hit-and-run and is urging anyone who may have seen a vehicle matching the description — or who has any other relevant information — to come forward immediately.

Police are also asking auto body repair shops, tow truck drivers, and residents to be on the lookout for a white Ford Bronco recently brought in for repair work involving front-end damage.
As the investigation continues, community members have expressed frustration and sadness that the driver chose to leave the scene rather than stop to help. Local leaders are stressing the importance of driver accountability and reminding the public that leaving the scene of a fatal accident is not only illegal but morally devastating for the families left behind.
Authorities are determined to bring closure to Zavala’s loved ones by identifying and apprehending the suspect. In the meantime, friends, family, and neighbors are holding the Zavala family in their thoughts, remembering a man whose life was tragically cut short by an act of recklessness and disregard for human life.
Anyone with information — no matter how small it may seem — is encouraged to reach out to investigators, as it may be the key to solving this case and securing justice for Timothy Zavala.
