Afternoon Shooting Claims the Life of 37-Year-Old Greeley Resident Ben Knitewolf Sanchez GREELEY, Colo. – July 16, 2025

A tragic and violent act shattered the quiet of a Wednesday afternoon in Greeley, Colorado, as a local man lost his life following a shooting incident that has left the community stunned and grieving.

At approximately 12:22 p.m. on Wednesday, July 16, officers with the Greeley Police Department responded to reports of a shooting at a residence located at 817 26th Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered a male victim suffering from obvious gunshot wounds. Officers immediately rendered emergency medical aid on the scene while awaiting paramedics.

The victim, later identified as Ben Knitewolf Sanchez, a 37-year-old resident of Greeley, was quickly transported to North Colorado Medical Center by emergency medical personnel. Despite valiant efforts by first responders and hospital staff, Ben tragically succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.
