In Loving Memory of Rob Wright — A True Wildcat Through and Through
It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of Rob Wright, a cherished and devoted member of our Wildcats community, who left us earlier this month. Rob’s unwavering support for the team, his deep involvement with the Supporters Club, and his vibrant presence in the stands and beyond made him not only a familiar face but a true cornerstone of the Wildcats family.
Rob was far more than just a fan. He embodied the spirit of the game—loyal, passionate, and unshakably proud of the team he loved. Over the years, he became known for his boundless enthusiasm, friendly nature, and the genuine warmth he brought to every matchday. Whether it was rain or shine, win or lose, Rob was there—cheering, chanting, and standing tall with his fellow supporters, always believing in the Wildcats.
A Legacy of Loyalty and Community
Rob’s commitment extended beyond the arena. As an active member of the Wildcats Supporters Club, he contributed countless hours to building camaraderie among fans, organizing meetups, and welcoming newcomers to the fold. He had a way of making everyone feel like part of something bigger, and his generous spirit helped cultivate the family atmosphere that so many have come to associate with being a Wildcat.
Those who knew Rob best describe him as someone who lived with passion and kindness. He had time for everyone—whether you were a lifelong fan or a curious first-timer. His stories, his laughter, and his positive energy were contagious. His presence lifted others and reminded us all what it truly means to be part of a team, not just on the ice, but in life.
Honoring Rob’s Life
The entire Wildcats community is deeply affected by this loss, and our thoughts and heartfelt condolences go out to Rob’s family, friends, and all who were lucky enough to know him. We are devastated by the news, but we find comfort in knowing the incredible legacy Rob leaves behind—a legacy built on love for the game, devotion to his team, and kindness to those around him.
To honour and celebrate Rob’s life, his funeral will take place at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, 29th May, at Kingsdown Crematorium. All who knew Rob or were touched by his presence are warmly invited to attend the service.
Following the funeral, a gathering will be held at The Gluepot pub in Swindon, a place filled with memories of friendship, laughter, and post-match pints. This will be an opportunity for those who knew Rob to come together, share stories, raise a glass in his honor, and remember a man who meant so much to so many.
A Final Farewell
While Rob may no longer be with us in the stands, his spirit will always be part of the Wildcats family. His chants, his cheers, and his love for the game will echo on in every match, every goal, and every victory we celebrate together. He will be missed deeply, remembered always, and honoured forever.
Thank you, Rob, for your loyalty, your laughter, and your lasting impact on our community. We’ll carry your memory with us—on the ice, in the crowd, and in our hearts.
Rest in peace, Rob Wright.
Once a Wildcat, always a Wildcat.
