Ben Waghorn’s journey into law began after earning a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from GMI Engineering and Management Institute in Flint, Michigan, where he worked for General Motors Canada in Oshawa. He later transitioned to law, articling and practicing in various areas of law before focusing on solicitor’s work, including real estate, estate planning, estate administration, and corporate and commercial law. He was called to the Bar in February 2000 and joined the firm now known as Waghorn Stephens Sipos & Poulton in St. Marys, where he continued to serve the community until his passing.
Beyond his professional achievements, Ben was deeply committed to community service. He co-coached a local mixed soccer team during his law school years and played an instrumental role with the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame in St. Marys, chairing a fundraising campaign from 1998 to 2000 and serving as Chair of the Board of Directors from 2000 to 2006. His dedication to his hometown was evident in his active participation in various local initiatives and organizations.
