In Loving Memory of Daina Lewis: A Life of Grace, Healing, and Light
With deep sadness and profound respect, we share the heartbreaking news of the passing of Daina Lewis, a beloved member of the Moline, Illinois community. Daina was not only a cherished wife, mother, and friend, but a gifted yoga instructor, healer, and wellness advocate whose radiant spirit uplifted everyone she encountered.
Daina’s passing leaves an immeasurable void in the lives of those who knew her, especially her loving husband, James H. Lewis, and their family. Yet even in grief, we hold close the extraordinary light she shared during her time with us.
A Life Rooted in Healing and Purpose
Daina Lewis was a devoted yoga instructor, known throughout the wellness community for her deep knowledge, warm energy, and unwavering dedication to her students’ growth—both physically and spiritually. She held advanced certifications, including E-RYT 500, RYT 500, YACEP, and specialized in Thai bodywork. She offered her gifts through various spaces, including Haus of Om, Sanctuary Studios, and her own platform, Yoga with Daina Marie.
With each breath she taught and each pose she guided, Daina embodied compassion, mindfulness, and presence. Her classes weren’t just about movement—they were about healing. She helped others reconnect with their bodies, calm their minds, and awaken their spirits. Her voice, her touch, her teachings—these left imprints of peace in countless lives.
Roots in Moline, Passion from Within
A graduate of Moline High School, Daina was proud of her Illinois roots. Her journey into wellness and healing led her to study at the Southwest Institute of Healing Arts, where she deepened her understanding of holistic health and conscious living.
But Daina’s truest education came through life itself—through motherhood, marriage, friendship, and community. She lived each role with grace and intention. Her Instagram bio once read: Mom ~ Wife ~ Yoga Instructor ~ Thai Bodywork ~ Wellness Enthusiast ~ Dreamer ~ Joy Seeker. These weren’t just titles; they were truths she lived by.
To know Daina was to know joy, even in the smallest things—a sunrise, a deep breath, a shared laugh, a heartfelt embrace. She was a dreamer, yes, but also a doer, creating healing spaces where others could transform and grow.
A Legacy of Light and Love
Daina’s passing is a devastating loss to the yoga and wellness communities, to the city of Moline, and to all who were privileged to call her teacher, healer, friend, or family. Her legacy lives on in:
-
The countless students she guided into presence and peace.
-
The fellow teachers she mentored and inspired.
-
The clients she nurtured with Thai bodywork and soulful connection.
-
Her family, who carry forward her warmth, resilience, and radiance.
Daina taught us all to pause, breathe, and feel—to live fully and intentionally. In every class, she reminded her students that healing is a journey, and she walked that journey with authenticity and humility.
