A Mother’s Day Tragedy in St. Louis
What should’ve been a day filled with love, family, and celebration turned into a night of unimaginable heartbreak in St. Louis.
On Sunday, May 11th, 2025, at approximately 7:33 p.m., tragedy struck in the 4400 block of Maffitt Avenue. Officers responded to a call for a shooting and arrived to a gut-wrenching scene—a young woman, just 24 years old, found inside a vehicle suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Emergency Medical Services rushed to the location, but despite their efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
That woman has now been identified as Jorre Hadley, a life stolen far too soon. A daughter. Possibly a sister, a friend—someone loved and cherished. Now, just a name added to a growing list of victims of senseless violence.
Further investigation led officers to a shooting scene in the 4200 block of Maffitt, just blocks away. The details behind this devastating act remain unclear, and the investigation is ongoing.
This happened on Mother’s Day. A day meant to honor life, to cherish loved ones. Now, another family mourns. Another community is left shaken. Another mother may have received the worst news imaginable.
We can’t become numb to this. We can’t ignore it.
