In Loving Memory of Charla Stegall-Young
Founder & CEO of Power To Exhale
One of Louisville’s Sweethearts | A Global Inspiration to Women Everywhere
With deep sorrow and profound grief, we announce the passing of Charla Stegall-Young, a vibrant beacon of empowerment, sisterhood, and grace. Charla tragically and suddenly left this world, leaving behind a legacy that will live far beyond her years. A beloved daughter of Louisville and a cherished soul in Houston, she was known by many as a visionary leader, motivator, and advocate for women’s self-love and global unity. She was also known by all, simply and lovingly, as “Charla.”
Charla was a woman who lived life on her own terms. Unapologetically bold, yet radiantly kind, she inspired thousands of women to embrace themselves fully and fearlessly. As the founder and CEO of Power To Exhale, Charla didn’t just start an organization — she created a movement. What began as a safe space for women to breathe, to heal, and to find themselves became a global sisterhood that united women from all walks of life, cultures, and countries.
Through Power To Exhale, Charla reminded women that they deserve rest, joy, adventure, and connection. She encouraged women to release the pressure, the pain, and the expectations placed on them — and simply exhale. From the streets of Louisville to the shores of the Caribbean, from retreats in Africa to conferences in the U.S., she crafted a life where she could share the gifts of self-discovery and freedom with others. She led by example — dancing through life with passion, faith, and a magnetic confidence.
Charla’s voice was warm, her spirit contagious, and her presence commanding. She wasn’t just a leader — she was a sister, a mentor, a cheerleader, and often, the spark that reignited hope in others. Her energy could fill a room; her smile could heal a heart. She had a way of seeing the greatness in others before they saw it in themselves.
While the Power To Exhale community grieves deeply, Charla’s legacy is already being carried forward by the countless lives she touched. Women around the world continue to live more boldly, travel more freely, speak more truthfully, and love themselves more deeply because of Charla. The global sisterhood she cultivated is stronger than ever — bound not just by shared experiences, but by her unshakable belief that every woman deserves to be seen, heard, and loved.
To the Houston community and beyond, Charla was more than a CEO or a founder. She was a force of nature — blending soul and strategy, fun and faith. She was deeply rooted in her purpose, never shying away from lifting others as she rose. And even in her absence, her light continues to shine in every woman who takes a breath and dares to exhale.
Charla’s loss is felt in every corner where her laughter once echoed, in every life she touched with her wisdom and warmth, and in every space where women now stand taller because of her.
We honor her life, celebrate her impact, and vow to carry her vision forward.
Charla Stegall-Young, may your soul rest in eternal peace. You were truly one of Louisville’s sweethearts — and a global treasure. May your wings carry you to the skies you so often reached for — and may your legacy live on in every exhale.
