North Omaha Shooting Leaves Teen in Critical Condition, Schools Placed on Secure Status

On Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at approximately 10:28 a.m., Omaha Police Department (OPD) officers responded to reports of a shooting near 51st and Emmet Streets in north Omaha. Upon arrival, officers discovered two individuals suffering from gunshot wounds near 52nd and Pinkney Streets.

Emergency medical responders transported both victims to a local hospital. One individual, described as approximately 15 to 16 years old, had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was in extremely critical condition. The second victim was reported to be in serious condition.

As a precautionary measure, Fontenelle Elementary School and Benson High School were placed on secure status to ensure the safety of students and staff during the initial investigation.

Authorities have issued a description of the suspect vehicle, identified as a charcoal gray, small, four-door hatchback sedan. Residents are advised to avoid the area while the investigation is ongoing and to report any information related to the incident or the suspect vehicle to the Omaha Police Department.

This shooting follows a series of recent violent incidents in Omaha. On March 3, 2025, a 39-year-old man was injured in a shooting near 20th and Grace Streets, leading to a barricade situation and the subsequent arrest of two individuals. Additionally, on March 15, 2025, a woman sustained non-life-threatening injuries in a shooting at Florence Tower near Florence Boulevard and Storz Expressway; a 36-year-old male suspect was arrested in connection with that incident.

The OPD continues to investigate these incidents and urges community members to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities.
