In Loving Memory of Jill Pearce: A Guardian of Animals and a Heart of the Community
It is with the deepest and heaviest of hearts that we share the heartbreaking news of the passing of Jill Pearce, a devoted animal control officer, cherished colleague, and irreplaceable friend. Jill, who faithfully served the City of Warner Robins for nearly 20 years, passed away suddenly, leaving a void that words can hardly begin to express.
For almost two decades, Jill Pearce was a pillar of strength, compassion, and dedication in the Warner Robins Animal Control (WRAC) division. She wasn’t just an animal control officer — she was a protector, an advocate, and a deeply empathetic soul who poured her heart into every single call, every rescue, and every life—human or animal—that crossed her path. Her work was not just a job; it was a calling. And Jill answered that call every single day with grace, strength, and love.
To her fellow officers, Jill was more than a coworker — she was a mentor, a trusted leader, and the heartbeat of the team. Her colleagues often described her as the kind of person you could rely on no matter the situation — calm in the chaos, wise in the most difficult moments, and always grounded in her love for the work and the community she served.
Jill’s impact extended far beyond the walls of the animal shelter. She was a familiar and comforting face to many residents of Warner Robins, known for her patience, her fairness, and her deep sense of responsibility. She treated every creature with dignity, from scared and abandoned pets to wildlife in distress. Every adoption, every rescue, and every successful reuniting of pet and owner held a piece of her heart.
As a mother, Jill’s love and dedication were unmatched. Her children were the center of her world, and she raised them with the same compassion, strength, and integrity that she brought to her work. Our thoughts, our prayers, and our deepest sympathies go out to her family, especially her children, during this time of unimaginable grief.
The Warner Robins Police Department (WRPD) and WRAC family are also grieving the loss of someone who was not just a colleague but family. The shelter, where Jill dedicated countless hours of her life, will be closed today out of respect and mourning. Emergency calls will still be answered, and citizens are asked to contact 478-542-2000 for any urgent animal-related needs.
There are no words that can fully capture the pain of losing someone like Jill. Her legacy is etched into the fabric of our city and will live on in every life she touched—every animal she saved, every coworker she mentored, and every person she helped with a kind word and a determined heart.
As we mourn this devastating loss, we also remember and honor a life that was full of purpose, compassion, and service. Jill Pearce was truly one of a kind. The City of Warner Robins is better because of her, and she will never be forgotten.
Rest in peace, Jill. You gave so much of yourself, and we are eternally grateful. 🖤
