In Loving Memory of Michael Joe Rippy
October 1964 – April 29, 2025
It is with heavy hearts and deep sorrow that the family of Michael Joe Rippy announces his passing on April 29, 2025, at the age of 60. Though his voice was soft, his heart roared with love, compassion, and strength—a man of quiet grace, with hands worn from honest labor and a life devoted to family, friendship, and service.
Born as the first child to Sharon and Bobby Joe Rippy, Michael grew up with a sense of responsibility, love, and unwavering loyalty to those he cared about. He was a rock for many—a calm and steady presence whose kindness left an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to know him. His family was his greatest treasure, and he lived every day in pursuit of caring for them, nurturing them, and making memories with those he held dear.
Michael was preceded in death by his father, Bobby Joe Rippy, whose legacy he honored through his own integrity and work ethic. Left to mourn his immeasurable loss are his loving mother, Sharon Deffendall, and her husband Ed Deffendall, whose grief is shared by the extended family and community.
Michael shared a lifetime of love, laughter, and adventure with his devoted wife, Tammy, who mourns the loss of not only her husband but her best friend and soulmate. Their journey together was filled with shared dreams, quiet joys, and unwavering partnership—a bond few are lucky enough to experience.
He is lovingly remembered by his siblings: his brother Kelly Rippy and his wife Lindsay, and his sister Jennifer Rippy, with whom he shared countless memories and a deep, enduring closeness. Together, they were more than siblings—they were confidants, companions, and a source of strength for one another.
Michael’s legacy shines brightly through his children: Chelsea Kreutzer, Nicolas Rippy and his wife Whitley, Cody Hill, Erin Preyer, and Eric Preyer. Each of them carries a piece of his spirit, and will forever hold his memory in their hearts. His love extended deeply to his grandchildren: Braxton and Brooklen Kreutzer, Kennedie, Bellamee, and Atticus Rippy, Ashton Preyer, and Ava, Ruby, and Sadie Hill—who brought him great pride and joy.
He was also a beloved uncle to Roxie and Ranger, and his influence reached beyond family, touching many lives through acts of generosity, encouragement, and simple kindnesses that will never be forgotten.
To all the friends, extended family, and members of the community who shared in Michael’s journey, his family offers deep gratitude. Though not all names can be listed, please know that your place in his life—and now in his memory—is cherished and appreciated beyond words.
A graveside service to honor and celebrate Michael’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 4, at Woodland Heights Cemetery. All who knew and loved him are welcome to attend and pay their respects to a man whose presence made the world a kinder place.
Michael Joe Rippy leaves behind a legacy of love, loyalty, and quiet strength. His absence leaves a void that cannot be filled, but his spirit will continue to live on through the lives he touched, the family he adored, and the memories he made.
Forever loved. Forever missed. Forever remembered.
