Purdue Student Suicide: University Community Mourns After Man Takes Own Life at Northwestern Parking Garage

On the morning of Friday, April 25, 2025, the Purdue University community was shaken by the tragic death of a man at the Northwestern Avenue Parking Garage in West Lafayette, Indiana. The individual was identified as 25-year-old Austin Davis Fisher from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. His body was discovered hanging from the exterior of the garage, visible from Grant Street, prompting a 911 call around 8:30 a.m.

At the time of the incident, authorities had not confirmed whether Fisher was affiliated with Purdue University. The Tippecanoe County Coroner’s Office scheduled an autopsy for the following Monday to determine the exact cause of death.
