In Loving Memory of Franklin D. Nation: Taylorville Mourns the Loss of a Devoted Family Man and Community Member

The Taylorville community is deeply saddened by the passing of Franklin D. Nation, who died on April 18, 2025, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield after a courageous two-year battle with gastric cancer. He was 44 years old.

A Life Rooted in Family and Community

Born on August 29, 1980, in Hillsboro, Illinois, Franklin was the son of Jeannette Nation. He married Billie Rolfingsmeier on September 20, 2002, in Taylorville, and together they built a loving family. Franklin was a dedicated father to his children, Hunter and Emma, and took immense pride in their accomplishments. He was also a cherished son, brother, and uncle, known for his unwavering support and affection for his extended family.

A Passion for the Outdoors and Mechanics

Franklin’s love for the outdoors was evident in his hobbies, which included fishing, boating, camping, and riding four-wheelers. He had a particular interest in firearms, enjoying both hunting and customizing guns. His mechanical skills were not only a profession but a passion, as he spent countless hours working on cars and sharing his knowledge with others.

Remembering Franklin’s Legacy

Franklin’s life was a testament to resilience, love, and community spirit. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him, and his legacy will continue to inspire kindness and dedication within the Taylorville community.

A visitation to honor Franklin’s life will be held on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville. In accordance with his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded, and a private family inurnment will take place at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens at a later date.

Memorial contributions in Franklin’s name may be made to the Cancer Care Specialists of Illinois, supporting the ongoing fight against the disease he bravely battled.

The community extends its deepest condolences to the Nation family during this difficult time. Franklin’s warmth, generosity, and unwavering spirit will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
