In Loving Memory of Louise Draper
Butterwick Hospice • Beloved Mother, Grandmother, Partner, and Educator
With heartfelt sorrow and profound respect, we announce the peaceful passing of Louise Draper, who left this world on 18th April 2025 at the age of 68, surrounded by love and care at Butterwick Hospice. A woman of quiet strength, deep compassion, and boundless dedication, Louise leaves behind a legacy of love and service that will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Louise was many things — a devoted mother, a proud and doting gran, and a loving partner — but to the broader community, she was also a nurturing and steadfast presence through her years as a teaching assistant. Her life’s work was shaped by a simple but powerful philosophy: every child deserved encouragement, support, and someone who believed in them. And for countless young lives, that person was Louise.
She brought warmth, patience, and joy to the classroom, always taking the time to listen, to guide, and to lift up the children in her care. Colleagues admired her work ethic and the gentle wisdom she brought to her role, while students cherished the kindness and encouragement she offered freely. Whether helping a struggling reader, cheering a class on during assemblies, or offering a comforting word, Louise’s presence made a lasting difference in the lives she touched.
Outside of her professional life, Louise was the heart of her family. She was a constant source of love and support to her children and a magical, playful spirit to her grandchildren. Her home was a place of warmth and laughter, filled with the scent of home cooking, the sound of storytelling, and the embrace of someone who truly cared. As a partner, she shared a deep and enduring bond — one grounded in mutual respect, quiet strength, and shared memories.
Her friends knew her as a woman with a generous heart, a sharp wit, and a love for simple joys — walks along the Saltburn seafront, garden flowers in bloom, and heartfelt chats over cups of tea. She had an uncanny ability to make others feel truly seen and understood, and her absence will be felt profoundly by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
In honoring Louise’s memory, her family is organizing the creation of a memorial bench on Saltburn seafront, a place that held special meaning in her life. Donations toward this tribute will help provide a quiet spot for reflection, remembrance, and peace — a place where her spirit can continue to touch others amid the sea breeze and gentle tide.
As we mourn her passing, we also celebrate the extraordinary life Louise Draper lived — a life rich in compassion, service, and love. She leaves behind a legacy not measured only in years, but in the countless lives she helped shape, the laughter she shared, and the love she gave so freely.
She will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Her memory lives on in the hearts of her family, her friends, her former students, and in every kind gesture inspired by the woman she was.
Rest peacefully, Louise Draper. You made the world gentler, brighter, and kinder.
