16-Year-Old Boy Killed in Shooting at Skyline Village Mobile Home Park in Bowling Green, Kentucky

A tragic incident unfolded on Wednesday afternoon at the Skyline Village Mobile Home Park on Loop Avenue in Bowling Green, Kentucky, when a 16-year-old boy was fatally shot. The Bowling Green Police Department responded to reports of gunfire around 1:48 a.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered the teenager in the backyard of an apartment complex, deceased from multiple gunshot wounds.

Investigation and Arrest

Authorities arrested Tylan J. Barnett, a Bowling Green resident, in connection with the shooting. Barnett, 18, informed detectives that he had been contacted by his sister, who believed someone was attempting to break into her residence. Upon arriving at the scene, Barnett claimed to have seen two individuals outside and, believing they were the intruders, went outside with a firearm. He reported firing multiple shots at one of the individuals running from the apartment building. Barnett later admitted to discarding the firearm in a nearby brush line.

Barnett has been charged with murder and tampering with physical evidence. He is currently being held at the Warren County Regional Jail. The Bowling Green Police Department continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
