CLINTON, MS — Community Mourns the Tragic Loss of Beloved 21-Year-Old Elizabeth “Blair Bear” Hearn
CLINTON, MS — The community of Clinton and surrounding areas is reeling from the devastating loss of 21-year-old Elizabeth Blair Hearn, affectionately known as “Blair Bear,” who tragically passed away following a car accident on Sunday, April 13, 2025.
Blair’s sudden and unexpected passing has left an irreplaceable void in the hearts of her family, friends, and everyone who had the blessing of knowing her. Described by those closest to her as radiant, kind-hearted, and full of life, Blair touched countless lives with her bright smile, compassionate spirit, and boundless energy.
Born and raised in Clinton, Blair was a proud graduate of Clinton High School, where she was an active participant in numerous school activities, including cheerleading and student council. She was known for her leadership, positivity, and unwavering support for her peers. Her enthusiasm for life was contagious, often lifting up those around her even in the most difficult times.
At the time of her passing, Blair was attending Mississippi State University, where she was studying early childhood education — a field that perfectly reflected her love for children and her dream of making a difference in young lives. Friends and professors remember her as a dedicated student with a nurturing soul, someone who was always first to offer a helping hand, a listening ear, or a word of encouragement.
In the days since the accident, tributes have poured in from across the state and beyond. Vigils have been held both in Clinton and on the Mississippi State campus, where classmates and friends gathered to honor her memory with candles, shared stories, and prayers. Social media has been flooded with photos, heartfelt messages, and memories of Blair’s impact on those who knew her — all echoing the same truth: she was deeply loved.
“She had the kind of heart that made you feel seen,” said one close friend. “Whether you were her best friend or someone she’d just met, Blair treated everyone like they mattered. That’s what made her so special.”
Elizabeth is survived by her parents, John and Melissa Hearn, her younger brother Carter, her grandparents, and a large extended family who adored her. Her loved ones are holding tightly to their faith and the outpouring of support from the community as they navigate this unimaginable grief.
The Hearn family has expressed gratitude for the overwhelming love and prayers they have received. In a public statement, they wrote, “Our sweet Blair was a light in this world. Her faith in God, her compassion, and her joy were unmatched. While our hearts are broken, we know she is now in the arms of Jesus, and for that we find peace.”
Funeral services for Elizabeth Blair Hearn will be held later this week at First Baptist Church of Clinton, with visitation open to all who wish to pay their respects. In honor of Blair’s legacy and her love for children, the family has asked that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to a scholarship fund in her name or to a children’s charity of your choice.
As the Clinton community mourns this profound loss, it also comes together in remembrance of a young woman whose life, though tragically cut short, was filled with meaning, purpose, and love. Elizabeth “Blair Bear” Hearn will never be forgotten, and her spirit will live on in the countless lives she touched.
Rest in peace, Blair. You were, and always will be, so very loved.
