In Loving Memory of Dawn Payne, 50 A Life of Faith, Service, and Boundless Love
The North Georgia and Chattanooga Valley communities are mourning the heartbreaking loss of 50-year-old Dawn Payne, a beloved woman whose life was tragically cut short in a devastating crash on State Route 151—known locally as Alabama Highway—on Monday, November 10.
According to preliminary findings from the Georgia State Patrol, the crash occurred shortly after 4:00 p.m. A young female juvenile driver, operating with a learner’s permit, partially drifted off the roadway with her passenger-side tires while navigating a left-hand curve. In an attempt to correct her path, the juvenile overcorrected, sending the vehicle into a dangerous counterclockwise rotation.
As the car spun into the opposite lane, it collided with an oncoming SUV, which struck the passenger side—where Dawn was seated. Despite immediate emergency response, Dawn Payne tragically died at the scene.
The sudden loss of Dawn has left her family, friends, church community, and all who knew her in deep sorrow. But even in their grief, those who loved her are finding strength in remembering the beautiful life she lived—a life filled with compassion, generosity, unwavering faith, and a heart dedicated wholly to service.

Whether in church programs, community events, or within her own family, she had a natural ability to make every child feel loved, seen, and cherished.
