Tragic Homicide in Baldwin Park Leaves Community in Shock

The Baldwin Park community is reeling after a horrific act of violence left two adults dead and a child critically injured inside a local home. Authorities have confirmed that Yulan Wang and Qiufu Jiang, both 61, were fatally shot inside their residence on the 12700 block of Royston Street early Monday morning. A 10-year-old girl, who sustained gunshot wounds during the incident, was rushed to a nearby hospital and remains in critical condition. The harrowing event has shaken neighbors, family members, and the broader community, raising concerns about domestic-related violence and its devastating consequences.

According to Baldwin Park Police, officers responded to the home just before 5 a.m. Monday following a report of a suspicious person and possible victims inside the residence. Upon arrival, they were immediately approached by three uninjured individuals—a mix of adults and a child—who confirmed that a shooting had taken place inside. Inside the home, officers discovered the two deceased adults along with the injured 10-year-old. The uninjured individuals were taken into protective custody while first responders attended to the critically injured child.

Investigators have identified the suspected shooter as 35-year-old Qihao Jin, the estranged husband of a member of the family. Police believe that Jin specifically targeted the home of his wife’s family, though his estranged wife was not present at the residence during the attack. Jin had fled the scene prior to the arrival of law enforcement, prompting a countywide manhunt. Later that evening, authorities were notified that his vehicle had been located on the 100 block of Vermont Street in Anaheim. Inside, Jin was found dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. Officials have confirmed that there is no ongoing threat to the community.

This tragic incident has left the Baldwin Park community in mourning and disbelief. Friends, neighbors, and family members describe Yulan Wang and Qiufu Jiang as beloved parents, grandparents, and community members whose lives were tragically cut short. The 10-year-old girl injured in the shooting remains the focus of the community’s prayers and support, as friends and neighbors rally around her and her surviving family members during this unimaginably difficult time.
