The state of Indiana and the entire National Guard community are mourning the heartbreaking loss of Specialist Terry Frye, a proud Lafayette resident whose life was tragically cut short in a devastating crash involving a military convoy. Earlier this week, it was confirmed that the man involved in the fatal crash was Goderdzi Guzabidze, who, according to information shared publicly by Senator Jim Banks, was in the country illegally at the time of the incident. While the investigation continues, the focus for many remains on honoring the life, service, and sacrifice of Spc. Frye.
On Monday, the Indiana National Guard released Frye’s identity, prompting an outpouring of grief and remembrance for a soldier who embodied dedication and courage. Spc. Terry Frye enlisted in the Indiana National Guard in March 2020, answering the call to serve his country with pride and determination. During his time in uniform, he earned the National Defense Service Medal and the Army Service Ribbon, recognitions that speak to his commitment, discipline, and readiness to defend the nation he loved.
