The Clare County community is mourning a devastating loss following a tragic crash on M-115 near Harding Avenue in Surrey Township that claimed the lives of three young people.

On Thursday, November 13, at approximately 9:11 p.m., Clare County Central Dispatch received reports of a serious two-car collision, with witnesses indicating that one of the vehicles was engulfed in flames. Deputies from the Clare County Sheriff’s Office and personnel from the Surrey Township Fire Department immediately responded to the scene. Fire crews quickly extinguished the burning vehicle, and deputies began their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Authorities report that a black 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee, driven by a 20-year-old man from Detroit, was traveling westbound on M-115. The Jeep carried three passengers: a 20-year-old man and two women, ages 19 and 21, all from Detroit. For reasons still under investigation, the Jeep crossed the center line and collided head-on with a white 2013 Buick Verano, which was traveling eastbound and driven by a 24-year-old man from Tecumseh.

The crash resulted in the tragic deaths of Rodney Anderson, Na’ziyah Harris, and one other passenger. The driver of the Jeep and the man driving the Buick survived but sustained injuries, and they were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment. Authorities continue to investigate the exact cause of the crash, including whether speed, impairment, or other factors contributed to the collision.

Family, friends, and the wider community are grieving this heartbreaking loss. Rodney Anderson and Na’ziyah Harris were remembered by loved ones as vibrant, caring individuals whose lives were tragically cut short. Local residents have expressed profound sorrow and offered condolences to the families affected by this tragedy.

In the wake of this devastating incident, community leaders are also reminding motorists to drive carefully, especially at night and in areas with high traffic, to prevent further tragedies on the roads.
