The community of Shenandoah is mourning the heartbreaking and sudden loss of Danyel Miller, who tragically lost his life in a violent three-vehicle crash on Interstate 81 South on Friday evening, November 14, 2025. What began as a routine drive turned into a devastating event that would forever change the lives of Danyel’s family, friends, and everyone touched by this tragedy.
According to Pennsylvania State Police in Frackville, the crash occurred at 5:49 p.m., near mile marker 135.5 on I-81 South. The collision involved three southbound vehicles:
• a 2024 Honda Civic,
• a 2024 International tractor-trailer, and
• a 2016 Audi Q5, driven by Danyel.
Investigators say the chain reaction began when the Honda Civic, driven by Rafael Ceballos of Hazleton, re-entered the right travel lane after passing another vehicle that had been stopped on the west shoulder. As Ceballos merged back into the lane, the front right side of his Civic struck the rear left side of the International tractor-trailer, operated by Charvel Prophete of Columbus, Ohio.
The impact sent the Civic into the path of Danyel’s Audi, which was traveling in the left southbound lane. The collision was severe. The Honda spun out, turning multiple times before coming to rest in the right lane of I-81 South, facing north. Danyel’s Audi veered off the roadway, going down an embankment in the grassy median before rolling several times and eventually coming to rest in the left lane of I-81 North, facing east.
The tractor-trailer, though struck, was able to come to a controlled stop on the west shoulder.
In the aftermath, the scene was chaotic—a stark reminder of how quickly life can be upended. Despite the efforts of responders, Danyel Miller suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Schuylkill County Coroner’s Office. Ceballos and Prophete sustained injuries believed to be minor and were transported to nearby hospitals for evaluation.
The investigation by Pennsylvania State Police–Frackville remains ongoing.
