“29-Year-Old Mississippi Weather Network Paramedic Adam Gambrell Killed in Two-Vehicle Crash on Highway 18 in Smith County”

 

On April 4, 2025, tragedy struck in Smith County, Mississippi, when 29-year-old Adam Gambrell, a dedicated paramedic with the Mississippi Weather Network (MWN), lost his life in a two-vehicle collision on Highway 18. Gambrell, a resident of Meridian, Mississippi, was driving a 2019 Kia Forte westbound on Highway 18 when it collided with an eastbound 2004 Freightliner driven by 61-year-old Roosevelt Newell of Taylorsville, Mississippi. The impact of the crash resulted in Gambrell’s untimely death.

 

Gambrell’s passing has left a profound void in the Mississippi emergency response community. As the Chief Operations Officer of MWN, he played a pivotal role in disseminating life-saving weather information and served as a paramedic in Jasper County. Hunter Dickerson, CEO of MWN, expressed deep sorrow over Gambrell’s death, stating, “He loved serving Mississippians as he was a dedicated paramedic in Jasper County, MS, and by relaying life-saving weather information here on MWN.”

 

Beyond his professional commitments, Gambrell leaves behind an infant son and his wife, highlighting the personal loss felt by his family and the broader community. Newell, the driver of the Freightliner, sustained injuries from the crash and is currently receiving medical attention. The Mississippi Highway Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision to determine its cause.
