In Loving Memory of Ja’kevis Xzavion Sweet

Enterprise, Alabama — A wave of grief has fallen over the city of Enterprise following the tragic loss of 19-year-old Ja’kevis Xzavion Sweet, whose life was taken on November 2, 2025. What began as a call for a possible shooting on the 100 block of Gibson Street quickly became a heartbreaking confirmation of loss, leaving family, friends, and the community devastated.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found Ja’kevis suffering from a gunshot wound. He was rushed to Medical Center Enterprise, where medical teams fought to save his life. Despite their efforts, he was pronounced dead. The pain of that moment ripples through every person who knew him — an unexpected goodbye, a future interrupted, and a young life full of potential suddenly gone.

The Enterprise Police Department has since confirmed the arrest of Zachary Qualls, who has been charged with one count of murder and is currently being held at the Coffee County Jail in New Brockton. The case remains under investigation by the Enterprise Police Department Criminal Investigations Division, and no further details have been released at this time.

But beyond the crime — beyond the headlines, the reports, and the procedural updates — there is the memory of Ja’kevis. And that is what matters most.

Remembering Ja’kevis

At just 19, Ja’kevis was a young man with dreams, connections, laughter, struggles, and love that shaped him into who he was. To those close to him, he was more than the news story — he was family. He was somebody’s child, somebody’s brother, somebody’s friend. He had goals. He had moments of joy. He had people who cared deeply for him.

He was the kind of person whose presence could change the atmosphere of a room — whether through a smile, a joke, a quiet moment, or the comfort of simply being there. Those who loved him will carry with them memories of his voice, his expressions, his energy, and the lessons he unknowingly left behind.

Every person who loses their life at a young age leaves behind possibilities — birthdays that won’t come, milestones that won’t be reached, a future that will forever remain imagined. That is what makes this loss so heavy. It is not only grief for what was, but also for everything that should have been.

For the Family, Friends, and Community

Grief does not have a schedule. It does not move in a straight line.

Some days will feel unbearable.

Other days, memories may bring more warmth than pain.

There is no right or wrong way to grieve.

What matters is remembering Ja’kevis in a way that honors who he truly was.

Lean on each other.

Tell his stories.

Speak his name.

Do not let the world forget the life he lived.

May His Memory Live On

As this investigation continues, may the community come together in support — not in anger, not in rumor, not in division — but in love, unity, and compassion. Violence takes lives, but love preserves their meaning.

Ja’kevis Xzavion Sweet will be remembered not for the way his life ended, but for the life he lived and the love he leaves behind.

May he rest in eternal peace.

Forever loved. Forever remembered.
