Man Shot and Killed in the Mark Twain Neighborhood Identified

St. Louis, Mo. — St. Louis Metropolitan Police have identified the man killed in a weekend shooting in the city’s Mark Twain neighborhood as 23-year-old Tishon Wordlaw of O’Fallon, Missouri.

The deadly incident unfolded on Saturday afternoon, September 27, 2025, when officers were dispatched to the 5300 block of Ruskin Avenue just after 2:30 p.m. for reports of shots fired and multiple victims.

When police arrived, they found two men suffering from gunshot wounds. Wordlaw was rushed to a nearby hospital, but despite efforts by medical staff, he later died from his injuries. A 29-year-old man, also struck during the exchange, was transported to the hospital where he remains in critical but stable condition.

According to investigators, the shooting stemmed from an argument that began in the street and escalated into violence. Police believe both men exchanged gunfire during the confrontation, which ended with tragic results.

Homicide detectives are actively investigating the case, working to determine the exact circumstances that led to the deadly exchange and whether additional individuals may have been involved. At this time, no arrests have been announced.

The shooting adds to ongoing concerns about gun violence in St. Louis neighborhoods, where community leaders continue to urge conflict resolution, intervention, and stronger community ties to prevent arguments from escalating into deadly encounters.
