Fatal Crash in Frenchtown Township Claims the Life of 27-Year-Old Cloe I. Klatt

FRENCHTOWN TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Monroe County Sheriff Troy Goodnough confirmed that a tragic traffic crash claimed the life of a young Monroe woman on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at approximately 2:27 p.m. The fatal collision occurred at the busy intersection of North Monroe Street and Mall Road in Frenchtown Township.

Details of the Crash

According to the preliminary investigation, 51-year-old Emily A. Adams, also of Monroe, was driving a black 2025 Ford Expedition southbound in the left lane of N. Monroe Street. As she entered the intersection of Mall Road, her vehicle collided with a black 2020 Ford Fusion being operated by 27-year-old Cloe I. Klatt, who was attempting to make a left turn onto westbound Mall Road from the northbound left-turn lane of N. Monroe Street.

The force of the impact caused the Ford Expedition to spin and come to rest facing northbound in the southbound right travel lane, while Klatt’s Ford Fusion ended up facing southeast on the southbound shoulder of the roadway.

Safety Equipment and Injuries

Authorities noted that Klatt was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Multiple airbags deployed in her vehicle, but tragically, she was pronounced deceased at the scene by emergency responders.

Adams, who was wearing her seatbelt, also experienced significant airbag deployment in her SUV. She was transported to Corewell Health Trenton Hospital, where she is currently listed in stable condition.

Investigators confirmed that alcohol was not a factor in this collision.

Emergency Response

The crash drew a swift and coordinated response. Members of the Frenchtown Township Fire Department, Monroe Community Ambulance, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Victim Services Unit, and the Sheriff’s Office Chaplain Program were all on scene to provide emergency aid, scene management, and compassionate support for those affected by the tragedy.

Ongoing Investigation

The incident remains under active investigation by Lieutenant Brian Quinn and Deputy Sheriffs Cody Carena, Hunter Chirillo, and Alec Preadmore of the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Services Division. Authorities are continuing to reconstruct the crash, review roadway evidence, and gather any additional witness statements.
