Victim Identified in Jefferson County Homicide

Jefferson County authorities have released the identity of the victim in a fatal shooting that occurred earlier this week. The deceased has been identified as 29-year-old Jimmie Epperson, a Black male. Officials confirmed that his next of kin have been notified.

The announcement follows the initial homicide investigation that began Tuesday evening, September 23, 2025. At approximately 9:05 p.m., officers were dispatched to 615 South Missouri Street in response to reports of gunfire. When law enforcement arrived, they discovered Epperson lying on the ground, unresponsive, and suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite immediate efforts by first responders, he was pronounced deceased at the scene by Jefferson County Deputy Coroner Teddy Spivey.

Detectives with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office have been actively processing the scene and gathering evidence since the incident. Authorities say investigators are pursuing all available leads as they work to identify the suspect or suspects responsible. While no arrests have been made at this time, officials stress that this remains an active and ongoing investigation.
