Rocky Mount Police Provide Update on Deadly Benvenue Road Shooting
The Rocky Mount Police Department has released additional details regarding a deadly shooting that occurred early Sunday morning in the 2100 block of Benvenue Road, leaving one man dead and several others injured.
At approximately 6:00 a.m., officers responded to reports of gunfire in the area. Upon arrival, they discovered multiple victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Tragically, 24-year-old Kedar Darden, a Rocky Mount resident, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Multiple Victims Injured
In addition to Darden’s death, four other individuals sustained injuries during the shooting:

A 27-year-old Black female

A 28-year-old Black female

A 24-year-old Black male

A 32-year-old Black male
Police confirmed that three of the victims have since been released from medical care. The 32-year-old male remains hospitalized, though his condition has been updated to fair.
Investigation Ongoing
Authorities temporarily closed the 2100 block of Benvenue Road while officers processed the scene, gathered evidence, and interviewed witnesses. The roadway has since reopened, but the investigation remains active.
Detectives are working to determine the circumstances that led to the shooting and whether the incident stemmed from a dispute, targeted attack, or another motive. No arrests have been made at this time.
