Columbus Police Investigating Fatal Shooting of 18-Year-Old Woman on Bay Avenue
COLUMBUS, Ga. — Authorities are investigating a deadly shooting that claimed the life of an 18-year-old woman late Friday night in Columbus.
On Friday, September 5, 2025, at approximately 11:00 p.m., Columbus Police officers responded to reports of gunfire in the 1000 block of Bay Avenue. When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered a female victim suffering from a gunshot wound.
The victim was later identified as Kalielah Davis, 18. Emergency personnel quickly transported her to Piedmont Columbus Regional Hospital in critical condition. Despite life-saving efforts, Davis succumbed to her injuries a short time later. Deputy Coroner Dustin Harrelson officially pronounced her deceased at 11:26 p.m.
In response, the department’s Violent Crimes Unit was called to the scene and has since taken the lead in the investigation. Detectives spent hours canvassing the area, collecting evidence, and interviewing potential witnesses in hopes of piecing together the events that led to the shooting.
Authorities have not released details about possible suspects or a motive at this time. The investigation remains ongoing, and officials are urging the public to come forward with any information that could assist in solving the case.
