Valley Community for Recycling Solutions Mourns the Loss of James Santiago’s Mother
PALMER, AK – The team at Valley Community for Recycling Solutions (VCRS) is deeply saddened by the unexpected loss of our Operations Manager James Santiago’s mother. This tragic news has shaken our VCRS family, as James has been an integral part of our organization and the recycling community in the Mat-Su Valley for over 15 years.
James is more than just a leader within our facility—he is a friend, mentor, and a driving force behind the smooth operations of our recycling initiatives. His dedication, work ethic, and passion for sustainability have helped shape VCRS into what it is today. His impact reaches beyond our organization, as he has played a vital role in advancing recycling efforts throughout the region, educating residents, and ensuring materials are processed efficiently and responsibly.
Now, as James navigates this incredibly difficult time, we want to rally around him with the same support and kindness he has always extended to those around him. Losing a parent is an immeasurable heartache, and we extend our deepest condolences to James and his family.
At VCRS, we consider our team to be more than just coworkers—we are a family. In times of grief, we come together to support one another, and this moment is no different. To help ease the burden on James during this time of mourning, we are working on ways to assist him, whether it be through meal trains, financial assistance, or simply offering a space for him to lean on us when he needs it.
We also know that many in the community have come to know and appreciate James for his hard work and dedication to the environment. For those who wish to extend their sympathies, we encourage messages of support, whether through cards, emails, or simple gestures of kindness.
In honor of James and his late mother, we ask that everyone take a moment to appreciate their loved ones, to reach out to those who matter most, and to recognize the value of community—something James has always upheld through his work.
James, please know that you are not alone. Your VCRS family and the entire Mat-Su Valley community stand with you during this time of loss.
With deepest sympathy,
Valley Community for Recycling Solutions
