Police Investigating Deadly Shooting in North St. Louis County

North St. Louis County police are investigating a fatal shooting that claimed the life of a 23-year-old man early Thursday morning.

Authorities say officers were dispatched to the 10000 block of Sheffingdell Court at approximately 3:30 a.m. after receiving reports of gunfire in the area. Upon arrival, officers discovered a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Emergency responders attempted to provide aid, but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have identified the victim as Kevontae Washington, a resident of north St. Louis County. Officials say Washington’s family has been notified of his death.

Detectives from the St. Louis County Police Department’s Bureau of Crimes Against Persons have taken over the investigation. They are working to determine the events that led up to the shooting, interviewing potential witnesses, and reviewing any available surveillance footage from the neighborhood.

At this time, police have not released any information regarding possible suspects, motives, or the number of individuals involved. Authorities are urging anyone with knowledge of the incident to come forward.

The shooting has left residents in the area shaken. Neighbors described hearing gunshots in the early morning hours, followed by the sound of police and emergency vehicles rushing to the scene.
