Murder Suspect Sought in Richmond County Homicide: Sheriff Issues Public Safety Alert
Richmond County, NC (August 4, 2025) — The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office has issued an urgent call to the public for assistance in locating Raequan Lameek Ratliff, 28, of Hamlet, who is now the subject of multiple arrest warrants, including a murder warrant in connection with the homicide of Wendell Robinson, Jr., 36, of Ellerbe.
The fatal incident occurred on Sunday, August 3, 2025, prompting an intensive investigation by the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office. Following the gathering of evidence and witness statements, investigators formally identified Ratliff as the primary suspect in the violent crime. Sheriff Mark Gulledge confirmed that detectives have worked diligently to piece together the events leading up to Robinson’s death and have now taken formal steps toward Ratliff’s apprehension.
Ratliff is described as a Black male, approximately 5 feet 5 inches tall, and weighing about 140 pounds. Authorities have labeled him as armed and extremely dangerous. In a statement released Monday, Sheriff Gulledge strongly urged the public not to attempt to approach or confront the suspect under any circumstances.
“This is a very serious situation,” Sheriff Gulledge stated. “We believe Mr. Ratliff poses a significant risk to public safety. If you see him, please do not engage. Call law enforcement immediately.”
The Sheriff’s Office has not released specific details regarding the motive or circumstances surrounding the homicide, but investigators believe the killing was not a random act. Detectives continue to interview potential witnesses and follow up on leads.
Sheriff Gulledge also stressed the vital role of the community in bringing this dangerous individual to justice. He appealed directly to residents of Richmond County and the surrounding areas:
