LUBBOCK, TX — Ongoing Investigation After Fatal Shooting at Executive Inn Leaves Community Grieving
Lubbock Police have officially identified the victim involved in a violent shooting that occurred Friday evening, July 25, 2025, at the Executive Inn, located near 44th Street and Avenue Q. Authorities responded to the scene following a distress call placed at approximately 6:46 p.m., where they discovered 34-year-old Keyarie Wartson suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
According to the initial police report, Wartson had been shot by an “unknown male suspect” before fleeing the scene of the shooting and seeking help in a nearby motel room. Witnesses say the wounded man knocked desperately on doors, attempting to find assistance before collapsing. EMS arrived shortly thereafter and transported him to University Medical Center (UMC), where he was listed in critical condition due to the severity of his injuries.
